Dr. Andri Iona

Biography

Andri Iona is a medical statistician working with the China Kadoorie Biobank. His research interests focus on observational genetic associations with adiposity and cardiovascular diseases. He implements statistical analyses for publications and contributes to the development of statistical resources. Andri also contributes to the MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology programme at the University of Oxford as a lecturer and statistics tutor. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics Actuarial – Financial Mathematics from the University of Aegean in Greece, an MSc in Medical Statistics from the University of Leicester, and a DPhil in Population Health from the University of Oxford. His DPhil investigated the association between adiposity and major plasma biomarkers related to the risk of cardiovascular diseases and mortality in Chinese adults. Prior to commencing his DPhil, Andri worked as a medical statistician at the China Kadoorie Biobank, focusing on the relationships between smoking and cause-specific mortality, diabetes and cause-specific mortality, as well as adiposity and diabetes incidence, and adiposity and stroke.
