Biography

Andy Harvey became a Professor of Optics at the University of Glasgow in January 2012. He was previously a Professor in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, where he served as the Director of the Industrial Doctorate Centre in Optics and Photonics Technologies. His research focuses on developing new imaging and optical measurement techniques across various wavelengths, including visible, infrared, and microwave frequencies. Andy works closely with end users to exploit his research in fields such as remote sensing, surveillance, consumer imaging, and particularly in biomedicine, specializing in ophthalmic imaging. He is also the Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Intelligent Sensing and Measurement.
