Andy Ku received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cooper Union, where he developed his undergraduate studies in architecture, conceptual sculpture, and Swiss-style graphic design. He obtained his Master of Architecture degree from SCI-Arc with distinction. During his career, Andy has contributed to the significant transition from analog to digital tools in architectural design. He is a principal co-founder of OCDC, an architectural design practice based in Los Angeles that draws insights from diverse terrains, culture, and technology. Andy's research interests focus on cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary trends, connecting architecture to contemporary arts and design fields. OCDC has won several AIA LA awards during its years of operation and has produced numerous award-winning projects across various continents. His work has been exhibited in major cities including Cape Town, Milan, New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka, and Taipei. Since 2003, Andy has taught at various educational levels, including holding several academic positions at SCI-Arc and UCLA, where he cultivated research that speculates on the representation and relationship of building design. He served as the director of the USC Exploration Architecture program from 2014 to 2019, and he currently teaches Architectural Design II, where students learn techniques and methodologies developed during their first-year architecture program.
