Biography

Andrew Wasser is the Associate Dean of Heinz College’s School of Information Systems and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. He oversees some of the highest-ranked graduate-level programs in applied business and information technology in the nation. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Director of Heinz College Executive Education where he teaches classes in global management to master's students within executive education programs. Dean Wasser's professional career has been focused on applying business technology within large financial service environments. He previously held the position of Director in Mellon Financial Corporation’s Project Office, where his team achieved CMM Level 3 certification with 1,000 software professionals. At Mellon, he established a successful enterprise-wide offshore outsourcing program that implemented standardized practices for workload selection, vendor management, compliance, and reporting. From 1995 to 2000, he served as Chief Information Officer at Dreyfus Corporation, managing over 200 technologists at one of the nation’s leading mutual fund and retirement services companies. Throughout his career, he has developed and implemented metrics, re-engineering processes, and training programs for banking and investment management organizations, and has also served on various industry advisory boards, guest lecturing at both academic and industry forums.
