Biography

Anette Mikes is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Hertford College. She is recognized as a Thought Leader by Harvard Business Publishing for her contributions in the field of risk management and financial governance. Mikes holds an honorary Doctorate from the University of Uppsala and a Fellowship at the Stockholm School of Economics’ Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets. From 2014 to 2019, she served as a professor at HEC Lausanne, focusing on risk management, control accounting, and sustainability. She completed her PhD at the London School of Economics in 2005 and has worked on significant research projects related to risk management for organizations including the British Bankers’ Association. Her academic work has been published in various reputable journals, and she has received recognition for her outstanding papers in management accounting research. Her documentary on a man-made disaster received an award at the Global Risk Forum in Davos, and her current research focuses on the intersection of risk management and business ethics.
