Biography

Anette Vandsø is an Associate Professor and Co-director of the Research Program in Environmental Media Aesthetics at Aarhus University. Her research explores the aesthetic experiences of art and their impact on environmental and cultural issues, drawing from various theories in art, culture, and environment. Her fields of expertise include acoustic ecology, attention ecology, (Pl)Anthropocene art, art noticing, environmental humanities, and plant humanities. Vandsø has led various significant research projects, including 'Hidden Plant Stories' (2023–2026) and 'Aesthetic Reconfiguration of Nature' (2016–2019), which investigate the intersections of ecology, materiality, and art in the context of the (Pl)Anthropocene. Before her current role, she was the Head of Collections Research at the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum. Vandsø has been involved in several collaborative projects and has contributed to numerous publications in her field.
