Biography

Angela Colantonio holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Traumatic Brain Injury and Underserved Populations as well as the Saunderson Family Chair in Acquired Brain Injury at the University of Toronto. She has authored over 300 publications and has been recognized with several distinctions, including the JJ Berry Davis Doctoral Supervision Award for outstanding graduate student supervision. Colantonio is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, the American College of Epidemiology, and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. She leads the internationally recognized Acquired Brain Injury Research Lab at the University of Toronto and the KITE Research Institute at the University Health Network. Her research focuses on addressing the issues surrounding traumatic brain injury, a leading cause of death and disability, particularly in underserved populations such as individuals who have experienced homelessness and those involved in the justice system. Using a sex/gender lens, her work aims to explore the impacts of violence, including intimate partner violence, on brain injury.
