Angela Dai is a Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where she leads the 3D AI Lab. Her research specializes in achieving 3D understanding of the world by capturing and constructing semantically-informed 3D models of real-world environments. This work encompasses 3D reconstruction and semantic understanding using commodity RGB-D sensor data and leverages generative 3D deep learning to enable the understanding and interaction of 3D scenes for content creation and virtual robotic agents. Professor Dai obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2018, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Computer Science from Princeton University in 2013. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the ZDB Junior Research Group Award and an Honorable Mention for the ACM SIGGRAPH Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation. In addition to her research, she has a strong commitment to education and mentoring in the area of applied computational mathematics and has been involved in various academic and community initiatives.
