Biography

Angela Fang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Washington. She is the Director of the Center of Neuroscience, Neuroendocrinology, Clinical Translation (CoNNeCTLab), where her research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying social cognition and anxiety disorders. Her work employs brain connectivity techniques, including resting state functional connectivity MRI, to investigate the contributions of neurobiological factors in maladaptive social information processing. Angela is particularly interested in the predictive utility of neurobiological correlates in understanding treatment responses and illness trajectories in individuals with psychiatric disorders, such as social anxiety disorder and body dysmorphic disorder. Her representative publications examine the interplay between oxytocin levels and cognitive behavioral therapy responses, as well as the role of self-focused attention in social anxiety. She actively mentors graduate students and is dedicated to advancing clinical psychological science and affective neuroscience through innovative research.
