Angela Pulley Hudson joined the faculty of Texas A&M University College of Arts and Sciences in 2007 after receiving her PhD in American Studies from Yale University. Her research specializes in American Indian history, with a focus on the 19th-century U.S. South, the representation of American Indians in popular culture, and the intersection of American Indian and African American lives. She has held fellowships at the Newberry Library, American Philosophical Society, and Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Hudson is the author of 'Real Native Genius: Ex-slave White Mormon Became Famous Indians' (UNC Press, 2015) and 'Creek Paths and Federal Roads: Indians, Settlers, and Slaves in the Making of the American South' (UNC Press, 2010), along with numerous articles and book chapters. Her current research considers the role of western Native Americans in the Jim Crow South. She serves as the Head of the Department of History.
