Biography

Dr. Angela Mashford-Pringle (she/her) is a member of the Timiskaming Nation (Algonquin/Bear Clan) and works in Indigenous wholistic health and well-being, incorporating culture, language, social issues, data research methodologies, and policy. She is an Associate Professor of Indigenous Health Lead at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Dr. Mashford-Pringle is the inaugural Director of the MPH-IH program and the Founding Editor of the Turtle Island Journal of Indigenous Health (TIJIH). Her current research interests include evidence-based health policies, cultural safety training, and advancing Indigenous data sovereignty. She encourages collaboration with Indigenous communities to improve health outcomes and is currently accepting Masters and Doctoral candidates beginning in January 2026. Dr. Mashford-Pringle has been involved in several significant projects focusing on Indigenous health, such as addressing climate change using Indigenous traditional knowledge and developing land-based learning pedagogies.
