Angela Palaiologou-Gallis, D.D.S., M.S. is a Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She received her D.D.S. from the National University of Athens, Greece, in 1995 and completed her Master of Science in Oral Biology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2000. Before her academic career, she practiced Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Greece for seven years. Since 2007, Palaiologou-Gallis has served at LSUHSC, where she directed postgraduate periodontics courses and mentored 23 residents in their Master’s research projects. She has been actively involved in various professional organizations, serving as President of the AADR-NO Chapter, and as a member of the American Board of Periodontology. She has received notable awards including the Master Clinician Award from UT Health and the Outstanding Educator Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. Her research interests focus on translational research in bone and soft tissue healing, specifically in periodontal regeneration and dental implants. In addition to her research and teaching commitments, she has been awarded grants for multiple clinical studies and trained numerous postgraduate residents in clinical periodontics.
