Angela Roberts received her degree in Neurobiology from the University of Sussex in 1981 and completed her PhD in neuroendocrine control of reproduction at the University of Cambridge in 1985, under the supervision of Joe Herbert. Following postdoctoral training in the Department of Experimental Psychology with Trevor Robbins, where she held a Royal Society Research Fellowship from 1992 to 1996, she took a teaching appointment in the Department of Anatomy, beginning her studies on the prefrontal control of emotion regulation. Currently, she leads the marmoset research centre at Cambridge and chairs the steering committee of the Laboratory of Translational Neuroimaging, while also serving on the Executive Committee of Cambridge Neuroscience. In addition to her research leadership roles, she is an associate editor for Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience and serves as a field editor for the International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology. Her research interests lie in understanding the neural circuits underlying the regulation of cognition and emotion, particularly in relation to neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Her lab focuses on the prefrontal cortex and subcortical circuitry involved in processing emotions and aims to identify the neurocognitive circuits associated with emotional dysregulation. She employs a variety of experimental techniques in her research and is currently funded by the MRC Programme Grant and WT Investigator award.
