Professor Dr. Angeliki Kerasidou

Biography

Angeliki Kerasidou is an Associate Professor in the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford, where she is a research fellow at the Ethox Centre and holds the position of Official Fellow at Reuben College. Her academic background is in theology and philosophy, having studied in Greece, Germany, and the UK. Dr. Kerasidou received her DPhil from Oxford University in 2009. Her research primarily addresses ethical issues related to the incorporation of new technologies in healthcare, focusing on the impact of socio-economic changes on biomedical research and clinical practice. She utilizes philosophical analysis alongside empirical research to investigate the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in population health, with a specific interest in the relationship between AI's accuracy and efficiency and the trust of healthcare professionals and patients. Dr. Kerasidou has led multiple Wellcome Trust funded projects examining the effects of austerity on healthcare ethics, exploring how financial constraints influence the ethical practices of healthcare professionals. Additionally, her research encompasses genomic studies and the ethical considerations of stem cell research.
