Biography

Professor Angeline Lyon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University. Her research focuses on the role of phospholipase C (PLC) enzymes, specifically PLCβ and PLCε, in cardiovascular function and disease. Lyon's lab investigates the mechanisms of calcium regulation and protein kinase C (PKC) activation, which are pivotal in the pathogenesis of heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. Utilizing advanced techniques such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy, her research aims to provide structural insights into PLC activation and regulation. Furthermore, she is interested in developing small molecule modulators to regulate PLCε function, which could lead to new therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular diseases. Lyon has been recognized for her contributions to the field, having received several awards including the ASPET Molecular Pharmacology Early Career Award in 2021 and the Young Scientist Award in 2012. She is currently accepting graduate students for her research program.
