Professor Dr. Angelo Auricchio

Biography

Angelo Auricchio is a Professor at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, Switzerland. He also serves as the Deputy Head of the Cardiology Division and Director of the Clinical Electrophysiology Unit at Fondazione Cardiocentro Ticino. He has held teaching positions at the University Hospital Magdeburg, Germany, and currently serves as a part-time professor at the University of L’Aquila in Italy. After graduating from Medical School in Naples, Angelo received his Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Physiology from the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata' in 1994. His professional journey includes notable positions such as the Director of Interventional Cardiology Electrophysiology at the University Hospital Magdeburg and the Clinical Electrophysiology Program at Fondazione Cardiocentro Ticino. He is a prominent figure in cardiac research, having served as a principal investigator on multiple significant multicenter studies and registries. An active contributor to numerous scientific journals, he has authored over 300 original papers and 90 review articles and book chapters. He has received several awards for his contributions to the field, including the Young Investigator Award from the North American Society of Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology and the Fritz Acker Award from the German Society of Cardiology. His editorial roles include membership on the editorial boards of several high-impact cardiovascular journals.
