Biography

Angkur J. D. Shaikeea is an Assistant Professor in the Kent Kresa Department of Aerospace at California Institute of Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Technology from the National Institute of Technology Calicut in 2015 and a Doctorate from the University of Cambridge in 2022. His research focuses on bridging the gap between designers, material scientists, and mechanicians to foster innovation in the creation of new materials. Currently, he is working on building a unique laboratory that integrates tomography, ptychography, energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction, and three-dimensional X-ray diffraction for in-situ measurements under mechanical loading, applicable to metals and biological samples. His pursuit includes extracting detailed three-dimensional stress-strain data and building the largest database for data-driven mechanics, enabling advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence analysis. His foundational knowledge in solid mechanics allows him to tackle complex challenges across disciplines with a priority on sustainable innovations.
