Biography

Angshuman Guin is a Principal Research Engineer in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He returned to his alma mater to become a faculty member in 2007, after a brief period in industry. His research is focused on enabling and empowering system managers, researchers, and users to make effective, data-driven decisions. Dr. Guin's efforts are directed towards finding innovative means of data collection, quality assurance, and processing to convert data into informative metrics over a range of time-scales from near real-time to decades. Currently, his research projects encompass areas such as Freeway Operations, Connected Autonomous Vehicles, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Transportation Safety, and Traffic Simulation Data Management. He has presented his work at international conferences and has published in recognized peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Guin serves on various standing committees of the Transportation Research Board, including those on Information Systems Technology and Human Factors. In addition to maintaining an active research portfolio, he advocates for translating research into practice and is a co-founder of InstaData Systems, a data analytics company.
