Biography

Angus completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Australia in 2016, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science with a focus on Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (Synthetic). He received Honours (first class) in 2017 for his thesis titled 'Synthesis of Photochromic Molecules and Their Applications in Molecular Electronics.' Following his undergraduate studies, Angus was awarded a Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship to continue his research as a PhD student under the supervision of Professor George Koutsantonis, commencing in 2018. His research interests primarily focus on the design and synthesis of Dihydropyrene-based molecules for applications in molecular electronics. Additionally, he investigates the use of Dihydropyrene molecules as ligands in organometallic complexes, and the design and synthesis of anchoring groups for use in single molecule electronics. Angus aims to develop Dihydropyrene-based molecules that are suitable for large area ensembles in electronic applications. His expertise encompasses various fields including Molecular Electronics, Organic Synthesis, Inorganic Synthesis, Photochromic Compounds, Molecular Switches, and Single Molecule Junctions.
