Dr. Angus Johnston

Biography

Angus Johnston is a Professor of Law at University College, University of Oxford, having joined in September 2010. He is a Senior Law Fellow and previously served as a Lecturer at Christ Church, University of Oxford. He completed a BA in Law and Law Studies in Europe and earned a B.C.L. at Brasenose College, where he received the Vinerian Scholarship in 1999. In addition, he obtained an LL.M. in European Union Law and served as a Lecturer at the Institute for Anglo-American Law at Leiden University in the Netherlands from 1997 to 1998. Johnston has also held positions at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, starting as a Fellow and Director of Studies in Law in 1999, becoming an official University Lecturer in 2004 and a Senior Lecturer in 2008. His visiting appointments include Harvard Law School and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. He also served as an affiliated lecturer at the University of Cambridge and at Jacobs University in Bremen during the academic year 2012-2013. Angus is a regular contributor to the Florence School of Regulation's Summer School on EU Energy Law.
