Biography

Professor Angus Macdonald's research focuses on architectural structures, cultural landscapes, and architectural history. He is the author or co-author of 13 books, including the recently republished (2019) greatly expanded edition of Structure Architecture, which is available in six languages and as an e-book; High Tech Architecture: Style Reconsidered (2019); and Steel Architecture: Designed Landscape Modernity (2021). His contributions extend to numerous publications and international conferences. Professor Macdonald has engaged in the environmental research consultancy Aerographica, specializing in record interpretation through aerial photography. Additionally, he has lectured on architectural history and supervised honors dissertation students at the University of Edinburgh's Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA). He has also served as a Commissioner for the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland and is a member of the Board of Governors at the Edinburgh College of Art.
