Biography

Angus Wann completed his PhD in Physiology at St George’s, University of London, where he researched mechanobiology and hyaluronan secretion under Professor JR Levick. He then pursued postdoctoral research with Professor Martin Knight at Queen Mary, University of London, examining the structure and function of primary cilia and their roles in mechanotransduction and inflammation. In 2015, Angus received the Kennedy Trust Rheumatology Research/Arthritis Research UK Career Development Fellowship, which allowed him to establish his own laboratory at the Kennedy Institute, University of Oxford. His research group contributed to the understanding of the post-natal roles of primary cilia in articular cartilage and osteoarthritis, highlighting novel functions of cilia in coordinating mechanical forces during limb development. In 2023, Angus accepted an Associate Professorship at the University of Southampton's School of Biological Sciences, where he continues to investigate the mechanobiology and fundamental roles of primary cilia in cellular and tissue health and disease.
