Dr. Anil Hira

Biography

Anil Hira is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Simon Fraser University, specializing in American economic development, macroeconomic issues, and international trade. He began his career in Washington, D.C., working with various government and think tank organizations. Hira has held academic positions at prestigious institutions, including the American University in Cairo and Tulane University. In 2000, he joined SFU with a focus on Latin American studies, later shifting his research to industrial policy and economic competitiveness. His recent work includes the regulation of energy to promote the transition to renewable sources. Hira not only publishes academic articles but also produces commissioned reports, particularly in areas such as corporate social responsibility. He is dedicated to mentoring students, helping them develop practical skills for career paths in policy research and analysis. His teaching incorporates hands-on exercises that facilitate the application of academic knowledge to real-world scenarios.
