Biography

Anil Mehrotra obtained Honours in Chemical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, India, and completed his Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary. Dr. Mehrotra is the founding director of the Centre for Environmental Engineering Research and Education (CEERE) and the Director of the Interdisciplinary Sustainable Energy Development (SEDV) program. He has held several leadership positions, including interim dean of Schulich School of Engineering. His extensive experience includes consulting for oil and gas companies in Canada and internationally. Dr. Mehrotra’s research focuses on understanding and modeling the properties and behavior of heavy crude oils, developing models to improve the transport of crude oil and remediation of contaminated soils. He has published over 190 refereed journal articles and has participated in various strategic initiatives at the university level.
