Biography

Anil Zechariah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He completed his PhD at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of blood flow regulation and its critical role in brain health, particularly during medical emergencies such as strokes. Zechariah's work delves into how neural cells depend on an integrated vascular network to maintain their energy-intensive activities. His investigations uncover specialized mechanisms that control brain blood flow, emphasizing the importance of vascular health in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease.
