Biography

Anirban Basu’s work sits at the intersection of microeconomics, statistics, and health policy. His research focuses on comparative cost-effectiveness analyses, causal inference methods, program evaluation, and outcomes research. Currently, he is the Stergachis Family Endowed Professor and Director of the Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research and Policy Program at the University of Washington. Basu serves as a faculty member in the Department of Health Services and as an adjunct in the Department of Economics. Previously, he taught at the University of Chicago's Department of Medicine and remains an external affiliate at the Center for Health and Social Sciences. In addition to his teaching role, Basu is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and serves as an associate editor for Health Economics, as well as being involved in other journals related to health economics and observational studies. He has also been a panelist and speaker at various economics and health studies conferences, both nationally and abroad.
