Biography

Anita Böcker is an Associate Professor in the Law Faculty of Radboud University, specializing in Sociology Law and Migration Law. She studied social geography and cultural anthropology at Groningen University and completed her PhD at Radboud University Nijmegen in 1994. Her dissertation explored the impact of the Dutch state system on social security and the role of informal social security arrangements among Turkish migrant families. Her recent work examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor migrants in vital sectors and addresses the challenges of recruiting skilled workers within the EU to mitigate labor shortages in healthcare and technical fields. Additionally, she contributes to various projects aimed at understanding labor migration bottlenecks and improving integration for migrant workers.
