Biography

Anita Mareno graduated summa cum laude in 1995 from Wellesley College with a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. She received a Ford Foundation Fellowship for her graduate studies, earning a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Cornell University in 2001 under the guidance of Professor Timothy J. Healey in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Shortly after completing her Ph.D., she became a VIGRE Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University, where she focused on her research interests in partial differential equations. Since 2007, she has been teaching at Penn State Harrisburg. Dr. Mareno's future plans include developing and advising undergraduate research projects in mathematics and conducting research in knot theory and mechanics.
