Anita L. Vangelisti holds the Jesse H. Jones Centennial Chair in Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. Vangelisti's contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards including the Mark L. Knapp Award from the National Communication Association and the Distinguished Book Award from the Family Communication Division of the NCA, among others. She has received the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas System and the Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Communication. Vangelisti has served as President of the International Association for Relationship Research and is a Distinguished Scholar of the National Communication Association, also being recognized as a Fellow of the International Communication Association.
