Dr. Anita Young

Biography

Anita Young is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. She earned her PhD from Ohio State University and has focused her research on two main strands: utilizing data accountability strategies to close achievement opportunity gaps for K-12 students and building leadership capacity among school counselors. Young has co-authored several books and published her research in various scholarly journals, also serving on editorial boards. She has presented at numerous local, state, regional, and national conferences on specific topics within her research interests. Her combined contributions through scholarly publications and presentations have greatly impacted the school counseling profession. Young is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American School Counselor Association, the Counselor Education and Supervision Association, and the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, along with various state organizations. Prior to her appointment at Johns Hopkins, she gained extensive experience in K-12 education as a school counselor and administrator and remains eligible for school counseling certification.
