Biography

Professor Anjan Thakurta is a leading researcher in the field of translational medicine with a focus on Multiple Myeloma. He is the Director of the translational program at the Oxford Translational Myeloma Centre (OTMC), where he advances personalized care and aims to cure the disease. Anjan collaborates with NDORMS and Oxford colleagues to lead the adoption of molecular diagnostics and establish new clinical care models. His research interests lie in understanding the biological drivers of high-risk, molecularly defined Myeloma segments and addressing clinical resistance through novel therapeutics. He has extensive experience in pharmaceutical industry research and development, particularly in hematological cancers such as Multiple Myeloma and Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He played a significant role in the Myeloma Genome Project, establishing a comprehensive landscape of newly diagnosed and relapsed refractory Myeloma genomes. Professor Thakurta obtained his MSc from Jawaharlal Nehru University, an MTech from IIT Delhi, and holds a PhD in genetics from Cambridge University. He completed his postdoctoral research at Harvard and the National Cancer Institute in the USA, and is a fellow at Reuben College, Oxford.
