Biography

Anke Blume is a Full Professor at the University of Twente, specializing in elastomer technology and material sciences. She studied chemistry at Leibniz University Hanover from October 1988 to July 1993, where she conducted her master's thesis on rubber. Blume completed her PhD at the German Institute Rubber Technology (DIK) in November 1995, after which she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the same institute for nine months. In 1996, she joined Degussa (now Evonik Industries) in Cologne, Germany, where she was responsible for the development of silica silanes for rubber applications and intellectual property management. Blume became the head of the Elastomer Technology Engineering department at the University of Twente on October 1, 2013, while continuing her work at Evonik. In April 2021, she dedicated herself fully to her academic role, focusing on her passion for teaching and the complexities of rubber materials. Blume aims to inspire young people through the fascinating properties of elastomers and has a background in surface and planetary sciences.
