Dr. Ann Elliott Goldschmid

Biography

Ann Elliott-Goldschmid is an Associate Professor at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, specializing in Violin, String Chamber Music, and Strings Mentoring. A native of New Brunswick, Canada, she is a founding member of the renowned Lafayette String Quartet and has been an active participant in the music scene in Victoria and abroad. Ann's early musical education included influential mentors such as Pauline Harborn and Victor Yampolsky, and she completed her studies at Boston University with a focus on violin performance. Throughout her career, Ann has received various accolades, including multiple awards at the New Brunswick Music Festival and recognition at the Canadian National Music Festival. She has also performed extensively in Detroit and has held roles with the Renaissance City Chamber Players. In 1986, Ann officially launched the Lafayette String Quartet's career, winning the Cleveland Quartet Competition, which propelled their studies at the Eastman School of Music. An advocate for string education, she has developed mentoring programs and has taught at multiple institutions, including the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. With a strong discography, Ann has recorded numerous works and collaborates regularly with other artists in various festivals.
