Associate Professor Ann McCormack graduated in 2000 from the University of Sydney and completed her postgraduate training at the Royal North Shore Hospital. Her doctoral research focused on the role of chemotherapy genetic biomarkers in the management of aggressive pituitary tumors. In 2010, she completed a clinical research fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, specializing in pituitary tumors. Appointed as a senior staff specialist in the Department of Endocrinology at St Vincent’s Hospital in 2011, she currently heads the Hormones and Cancer Group at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Her primary research interests include exploring the biology of aggressive pituitary tumors and investigating new treatment options, including pituitary tumor genetics. McCormack is a member of the European Society of Endocrinology’s Taskforce on Aggressive Pituitary Tumors and has contributed to the development of management guidelines published in 2017. She is also on the Board of the International Pituitary Society, leads the St Vincent’s Campus pituitary multidisciplinary team, and co-chairs the Australia New Zealand Pituitary Alliance (ANZPA). Currently, she serves as the President of the Endocrine Society of Australia and is passionate about mentoring young clinicians and promoting women in medicine.
