Biography

Ann Stewart is a Professor at the University of Warwick in the School of Law, focusing on gender law with specific interests in gender justice and postcolonialism, particularly in Eastern and Southern Africa and India. She has engaged in major research projects, including gender, ageing, and plural legal systems. Stewart obtained a Leverhulme Fellowship to conduct research in Kenya, collaborating with University of Nairobi and Mount Kenya law schools. Her work encompasses women's rights within the frameworks of globalisation and social justice, addressing issues such as legal systems' impact on gender relations and legal rights for women in various contexts. She has supervised doctoral students and led projects aimed at enhancing gender educational provisions in India.
