The Blenis Laboratory investigates how cells sense and integrate cues to maintain cellular homeostasis. The lab is particularly interested in understanding the cellular signaling and metabolism hijacked by cancer cells to promote tumorigenesis and drug resistance. They are researching the links between aging, metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes, cancer initiation, and progression. Utilizing state-of-the-art technologies, the lab observes and manipulates pathways in a variety of cell-based and mouse models of cancer. The clinician-scientists in the lab then translate these findings to the clinic. The Blenis Laboratory has established collaborations with clinicians at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine, and is part of the Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine, which is a newly established cancer center in the heart of New York City. Additionally, Dr. Blenis is affiliated with Tri-Institutional training programs centered at premier New York institutions, including Weill Cornell Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Rockefeller University, and is a participating member of the Tri-Institutional PhD program in Chemical Biology.
