Biography

Anna-Maria joined the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary in 2015. She is an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society (InSIS) at the University of Oxford. In addition, she is currently completing her doctorate at the University of Bremen, where she was awarded a research associate position at the Bremen International Graduate School for Marine Sciences (GLOMAR) within the MARUM Centre for Marine Environmental Sciences. Her doctoral research examines progressive developments in the regime of marine scientific research law, primarily regarding the understanding of the legal and practical implications of advancing the protection and preservation of the marine environment. Between 2013 and 2015, Anna-Maria worked at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany. Her research interests focus on public international law, particularly maritime law, international environmental law, and the interaction of law with science and emerging technologies, including the governance of geoengineering techniques.
