Biography

Anna Aizer is the Maurice R. Greenberg Professor of Economics at Brown University. She received her degree in Economics from UCLA in 2003 and joined Brown in 2004 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University's Center for Research on Child Wellbeing. Aizer is a labor and health economist with research interests focused on child health and well-being. She serves as the co-director of the National Bureau of Economic Research's program on Children and is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Human Resources. Her current work examines the mechanisms of intergenerational transmission of income, particularly focusing on the roles of health insurance access, medical care, domestic violence, exposure to environmental toxins, the impact of stress, discrimination in the labor market, job training, and the greater interaction of the juvenile justice system with children of poor mothers, which explains the likelihood of experiencing adverse economic outcomes throughout life.
