Biography

Anna Beckers is a Professor of Private Law and Social Theory at the Faculty of Law at Maastricht University. Her research interests are in theoretical doctrinal approaches to central private law institutions, with a significant focus on social theory approaches to legal research, particularly social systems theory and science technology studies. In 2022, she was awarded the European Research Council Starting Grant to lead the CHAINLAW project, focusing on responsive law for global value chains. Previously, she held positions as an Assistant Professor and an Associate Professor at Maastricht University and as a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute. Beckers earned her PhD from Maastricht University with cum laude distinction in 2014, with her thesis published by Hart Publishing. Additionally, she holds a law degree from the University of Frankfurt am Main.
