Biography

Anna Blomley is a Departmental Lecturer in Classical Archaeology at the University of Oxford. She completed her BA in Classical Archaeology and Greek Philology at the University of Heidelberg and her MPhil and DPhil at Oxford. With experience in excavations across Greece, Albania, Germany, and Switzerland, her research interests span the intersection of Classical Archaeology and Ancient History. Her doctoral thesis focused on the role of Late Classical and Hellenistic fortifications in the Argolid region of Greece. Currently, she investigates the interaction between human activity and the natural environment in ancient Thessaly, as well as the role of bronze coinages in Classical and Hellenistic Thessaly. Blomley tutors on Greek archaeology topics and teaches classes on various papers, enhancing deep understanding among her students.
