Biography

In 2023, Anna Bochorishvili obtained her doctorate in Sociology from the University of Glasgow, under the supervision of Professor Nicholas Watson and Dr. Nicola Burns. She holds an MSc in Equality and Human Rights from the University of Glasgow, an MA in Mass Communication from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Tbilisi State University. Anna has worked as a consultant researcher and has contributed to policy frameworks and studies on various topics, including the values and preferences of trans and gender-diverse individuals, gender-affirming care, and disability policy development. Her doctoral research focused on the effects of intimate relationships on the self-perception and psycho-emotional well-being of disabled women, utilizing qualitative interviews to critique Western literature on intimacy and sexuality. Her research interests include Sociology, Disability, Gender, Sexuality, Intimacy, Relationships, and the impacts of Transition in Post-Communist societies, particularly in Eastern Europe. Anna began her career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Glasgow in 2019 and has since become a Tutor within the School of Social and Political Sciences, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses on sociology and research methods.
