Dr. Anna Chrysostomides

Biography

Anna Chrysostomides is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant and a retained lecturer at the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Oxford and has also earned a Master of Philosophy from the same institution. Her academic background includes a Master of Arts from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mary Washington. Chrysostomides is engaged in research focusing on the intersections of Islam and Christianity, specifically in the areas of Muslim-Christian relations, Syriac Christianity, and Islamic History. Her work often encompasses topics such as Islamic archaeology, Islamic law, Christian canon law, Byzantine studies, and various aspects of gender and sexuality in relation to Eastern Christianity and Islam. She is involved in research projects like the Sex Church Project. Her publications include several articles and book chapters on topics such as religious code-switching in historical contexts and iconography in eighth-century Palestine.
