Biography

Anna Gloyn joined Stanford University as a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics (Endocrinology) and Genetics in February 2020. With over sixteen years at the University of Oxford, she completed her DPhil in Molecular Genetics under the supervision of Professor Robert Turner. Dr. Gloyn's post-doctoral training was at the University of Exeter, and she also trained at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2004, she was awarded the Diabetes UK RD Lawrence Career Development Fellowship, establishing her independent research group focused on understanding beta-cell function and investigating genetic variants related to monogenic diabetes. She received the Wellcome Senior Fellowship in Basic Biomedical Science in 2011, successfully renewed in 2016, which facilitated her relocation to Stanford. Currently, Anna serves in various leadership roles within the Stanford Diabetes Research Center and teaches several courses related to her fields of expertise. Her research interests include genetics of diabetes, functional genomics, and pancreatic islet cell function, particularly emphasizing the clinical implications of genomic alterations in diabetes treatment.
