Biography

Anna Ruth (Ruthie) Halberstadt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin. Her research integrates geological data with numerical models to reconstruct Antarctic climate and ice sheet dynamics across various time periods, including past warm epochs and glacial cycles. She focuses on providing spatial context for geological records through the use of tools such as drill cores, preserved glacial landforms, paleo-environmental reconstructions, and satellite records. Her areas of expertise include ice-sheet climate modeling, model-data integration, marine geology, glaciology, geomorphology, paleoclimatology, and the dynamics of ice sheets, particularly in relation to Antarctica and Greenland.
