Anna Hudson completed her doctorate at NeuRA and UNSW in 2010, investigating neural control of human inspiratory muscles using single motor unit electromyography (EMG) recordings. She conducted postdoctoral studies at Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris, employing electroencephalography (EEG) signal processing techniques to investigate breathing control in healthy subjects and patient groups. Her work has made contributions to the broader discipline of motor control, particularly in the descending control of limb muscles. Anna returned to NeuRA in 2014, where her current studies focus on the relationship between mechanics and neural control of respiratory and limb muscles using ultrasound and EMG, as well as sensorimotor cortical control of respiratory muscles in healthy subjects and patients with respiratory disorders such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obstructive sleep apnoea, and asthma using EEG. She is currently a COPD Research Fellow with Lung Foundation Australia and Boehringer Ingelheim.
