Biography

Dr. Huttenlocher’s laboratory focuses on understanding the basic molecular mechanisms that regulate cell migration and inflammation, as well as their implications for human disease. She has extensive experience in cell migration research, utilizing live cell imaging techniques with human cells and zebrafish. Her work includes the development of disease models involving innate phagocytes and host-pathogen interactions using zebrafish. Dr. Huttenlocher has pioneered innovative approaches to visualize and manipulate cell motility in zebrafish through photomanipulation. She has a strong track record of generating and sharing resources, having deposited more than 600 constructs in her lab with Addgene for the research community. Dr. Huttenlocher has served as the chair of the Gordon Conference on Directed Cell Migration, co-chaired the Banbury Conference, and held leadership roles in the American Society for Cell Biology. Additionally, she has served as a senior editor for the Journal of Cell Biology and chaired an NIH study section (ICI). She is deeply committed to educating PhD and MD scientists in the basic mechanisms of cell motility and innate immunity using zebrafish model systems.
