Dr. Anna Nordenstam

Biography

Anna Nordenstam is a Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Gothenburg, where she specializes in feminist comics, graphic novels, and literature didactics. She received her PhD in 2001 and has since held various positions, including Associate Professor and visiting roles at universities such as the University of Cambridge. Her research interests encompass children's and young adult literature, literary historiography, and modern fiction through intersectional and queer lenses. Nordenstam leads several funded projects focusing on feminist comic art and its critique, and is also involved in educational initiatives surrounding literary education. An active member of international research networks, she frequently collaborates on projects aimed at cultural empowerment in education. Additionally, she contributes to various editorial boards and has served on committees, like the jury for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Her teaching focuses on literary studies for various academic levels, particularly in connection with sociology and education.
