Biography

Professor Anna Peacock leads the Nonlinear Semiconductor Photonics group at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton. She received her BSc and MSc in Physics from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and then moved to ORC to undertake her PhD in Nonlinear Fibre Optics. Recognized for her pioneering work on fiberized semiconductor photonic devices, she was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship. Her research focuses on developing innovative semiconductor waveguides and fibre planar technologies for nonlinear optical applications. Professor Peacock is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), the IEEE Photonics Society (FIEEE), Optica (FOSA), the Institute of Physics (FInstP), and the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the journal Optics Communications and is a member of the Novel Photonic Materials research group. Her active projects include exploring silicon core fibres to extend the reach of nonlinear fibre systems and developing functional, non-toxic perovskite optical fibres. Her work is crucial in bridging semiconductor technologies with the silica fibre infrastructures used to transmit light globally.
