Professor Dr. Anna Plyushteva

Biography

Anna Plyushteva is a Titular Associate Professor of Human Geography at the University of Oxford. Her academic focus is on urban inequalities, particularly related to transport infrastructures, economies, and mobilities. Currently, Anna's research investigates the complex interplay between public narratives and everyday practices surrounding future mobility. With a commitment to inclusive methodologies and knowledge co-creation, Anna's work, which has been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the European Commission's Horizon 2020 program, emphasizes ethical approaches to research and teaching. She has conducted research across various cities globally, with a current emphasis on South-East Europe and the UK. Anna also teaches courses on Transport & Mobilities and supervises MSc dissertations and doctoral research within the School of Geography and the Environment. Her recent projects include an exploration of care, gender, and mobility within the context of non-visible disabilities, and she actively engages in outreach efforts with local organizations to enrich her research impact.
