Biography

Anna Rhodes is a practising Landscape Architect with a focus on integrating landscape architectural and artistic practice. She received her BA (Hons) in Painting and Printmaking from the Glasgow School of Art in 2011, followed by a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2014. Upon becoming a chartered member of the Landscape Institute in 2018, she transitioned to academia after working substantially in professional practice with firms in Glasgow and Edinburgh, such as Gillespies and HarrisonStevens, before establishing her own landscape architecture practice in 2017. Anna's research interests lie at the intersection of landscape architectural practice and community-oriented artistic expression, with an emphasis on projects that challenge conventions and promote alternative perspectives through gardens, exhibitions, and collaborative discussions. Notable projects include the ‘Dear Green Glasgow’ initiative and ongoing exploration of the ‘Critical Zones: Highland Boundary Fault’ concept. She aims to cultivate a critical and experimental studio environment, encouraging her students to engage with contemporary landscape architectural issues thoughtfully and creatively.
